Shipbuilding

Metawell panels have been used very successfully in all kinds of vessels since the mid-eighties. The combination of low weight and high rigidity with a small overall thickness make Metawell an ideal material for marine applications. This can be seen by the numerous references especially in superior inboard accomodations.
As purely metal sandwich element the panels meet the test criteria of IMO/SOLAS (A653.16) and MSC.61(67) Annex1 (part 2 and 5) as well as Annex 2.

The following approvals are available:

• CERTIFICATE OF FIRE APPROVAL foll. IMO FTPC, annex 1, part 2 and part 5
• Certified foll. MARINE EQUIPMENT DIRECTIVE - MED 96/98/EG and its supplements

Since designers and architects can choose between panels with different overall thicknesses and between different thicknessess of the single panel layers they have a suitable panel at hand for a broad range of applications: The panel choice can be adapted to the final use to reach optimum benefits both technically and economically.

For processors and subcontractors cost, delays and machining are most important. Due to its continuous production and to the fact that formats match most of the marine applications Metawell offers the possibility of cost-effective constructions. As working Metawell is easy, panels can frequently be adjusted at site.

Since stocks of all standard panels are kept even urgent material requests can be served within short. Panels can be supplied either as semi-finished or as tailor-made elements, which gives the sub-contractor an utmost flexibility regarding his planning and schedule.
